Ethics + Sustainability
Time for some real talk… here at Lucent Studios, we aim to work with like-minded trading partners to establish fair relationships which minimises the impact on the environment and ensures good working conditions across the world. We’d like everyone to be happy!

Ethically sourced crystals and gemstones
“Whether in the ocean, a pebble, a gemstone, or yourself, the energy of the universe permeates all.” ― Sarah Bartlett
Our crystals are provided by a long established family business who in turn, source their crystals from local traders so that money in these areas can be invested back into local communities rather than big business. As a small business ourselves, we think it’s important to support other small traders.
Our trading partner is mindful of mining practices and takes every effort to minimise the impact of their processes on the environment. Rather than large scale mining for bulk stone and minerals, our partner ensures that crystal and mineral specimens are carefully mined by hand, therefore retaining their value in all senses of the word.
Honesty and transparency through our crystal trading partner is paramount, and we are supplied with as much information about the process as possible. If there is any doubt regarding ethical practices of their locals traders, our partner will find an alternative supplier, who they are sure is not unethical or exploitative.

Our Component Trading Partners
Over the years we have worked long and hard to initiate good relationships with our trading partners across the globe. An honest, friendly and supportive dialogue between us and our partners is of paramount importance to us.
We work with other small businesses who share our ethics and approach to sustainability; by supporting us, you’re in turn also supporting these other businesses and that shop small wheel just keeps on turning!
We have real and genuine relationships with our partners; from the family run metal platers in Turkey to the ladies who cut our metal in Mexico. For example, when you buy one of our Harmonia necklaces, the personalised triangle on the pendant has been crafted by a woman supported by a collective based in Cuernavaca, Mexico. This collective educates women, teaches them valuable life skills and provides jobs and a stable income.

We have worked with our trusted partners for many years, but when looking to find a new partner, this is the information we collect from them:
- Do their staff have reasonable working conditions and working hours and are they paid a fair wage?
- When working with crystals, do the specimens come from mines that treat their miners with care, have safety measures in place, have fair working conditions, access to health care and are paid a fair wage?
- Are the gemstones cut by hand to reduce the impact on the surrounding environment?
- Does the business abide by all local laws such as licensing and pollution control?

We pour so much energy and love into the pieces we create and we strive to work with other small businesses who share this vision for conducting business in the most sustainable way possible. We will continue to learn and develop because we wish for our small company to be a force for good in this world.
